Fredericton police responded to a shooting at a north side home that sent one man to the hospital early Friday morning.
Alycia Bartlett, a spokesperson for the Fredericton Police Force, said the victim is a 47-year-old male who suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
Police responded to the incident at approximately 4:25 a.m. after receiving a call, according to Bartlett. Shortly after, a 56-year-old man was arrested on an adjacent property.
The victim remains in stable condition. Bartlett said the victim and suspect are known to one another.
The emergency response team, police service dog and primary response team all responded.
Bartlett said the incident is under active investigation by the major crime unit. The suspect is expected to face several charges, including weapons-related offenses.
The incident follows a shooting on the city’s north side over the summer that left four people killed, including two police officers.
