Rogers Hometown Hockey (HTH) is an annual festival that gives Canadians the opportunity to participate in the ultimate fan experience. Throughout the 2019-20 NHL season, Sportsnet hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will travel to various communities across the country celebrating hockey in Canada.
The first weekend of the 2019-20 NHL season marked the start of Season 6 of HTH. Sportsnet and HTH will visit a different community every weekend for the duration of the NHL season. Fredericton is scheduled to host HTH this coming weekend, from Oct. 26 at 12:00pm to Oct. 27 at 10:30pm.
HTH will happen at the Grant Harvey Centre and will be a weekend full of free, outdoor, hockey-related festivities featuring NHL alumni appearances, music and family-friendly fun.
The weekend will wrap up on Sunday with an outdoor viewing party of the San Jose Sharks versus the Ottawa Senators at 7:30 pm. Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will LIVE stream the broadcast, on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW, as they tell stories celebrating hockey history and hockey culture in Fredericton.
On Monday, Oct. 14 the UNB Reds men’s and women’s hockey team, joined with base Gagetown’s men’s and women’s hockey teams, for a friendly game. The game was pre-recorded and will be televised on Oct. 27th for the Fredericton’s HTH broadcast.
Rogers HTH’s goal was to capture a story reflecting the relationship between the UNB Reds and base Gagetown. The video will feature speeches by players, coaches and HTH hosts.
By celebrating hockey, which brings many Canadians together, and creating a fun, inclusive community event, HTH promotes youth involvement in sports. The aim of HTH is to get people to imagine new possibilities and share stories that unite their community.
