Singer/songwriter David Myles filled the King’s Place Mall with a cheering and positive crowd during his Singing for Supper performance on Dec. 10. Myles, alongside his cellist and bassist, played songs from his new album Real Love to raise money for those in need.
To celebrate the holiday spirit, Myles sang several songs from his It’s Christmas album released in 2014.
“Part of the joy in creating a Christmas album is trying to find those little gems,” he said before playing his song, Star of Hope.
Myles was one of the few who collaborated with CBC for their Feed a Family Campaign. The goal is to receive enough donations to provide 2,150 families with a traditional turkey dinner.
Last year, the campaign raised $117,000 which was distributed between local food banks for the holidays. CBC will be hosting events and collecting donations until Dec. 21.
“I thank all of you for being here, and thank you to the amazing work that the Fredericton food bank does for all of those in need,” said Myles.
During the performance, local food bank volunteers sold a variety of hard copy albums and merchandise and collected food donations.
For his last song, Myles stood next to a trunk full of donations while singing White Christmas alongside his audience.
