Cyr begins the song by acknowledging that UNB students have been paying a large amount of tuition to attend classes and pursue their education, and that our ‘classrooms [are] built on stolen land.’ Despite UNB’s land acknowledgement — ‘We respectfully acknowledge that UNB stands on the unsurrendered and unceded traditional Wolastoqey land ’—the University maintains what they call a neutral stance on divesting from Israeli companies. Cyr questions the very purpose of education: isn’t it about recognizing right from wrong? By continuing to invest in these companies, are we, UNB, truly neutral — or are we choosing a side?

BREAKING: Student Practicing Parallel Parking Assaulted at Brookside Mall

On January 10, 2025, while practicing parking at Brookside Mall, MH Emad and Azizur Rahman Emon were harassed by another vehicle. The aggressors smashed Emad’s rear window, physically assaulted him, and then fled the scene. Emad has filed a police report (File 2025-711). Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. UPDATE: The suspects have been identified as Mariah Randall, Issac Black and Jaiden Macfarlane.
