Kamdyn Switzer from the STFX X-Women hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 16, 2025.

A fourth-year health student from Stittsville, Ont., Switzer was named MVP of the 2025 Bell AUS Women’s Hockey Championship this past week as the X-Women captured the conference title with a 2-0 series victory over UNB.

In Monday’s 2-1 double overtime win in Fredericton, N.B., Kamdyn was named the player of the game as she scored the game-winning goal 13 seconds into the second overtime period. 

She followed up Wednesday by scoring another game-winning goal late in the third period as the X-Women again defeated the REDS by a 2-1 score. Kamdyn led all players in AUS postseason scoring with seven points (three goals and four assists) with all three of her goals being game winners.

Samuel Richard from the UNB REDS men’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 16, 2025.

A third-year goaltender from Sainte-Catherine, Que., Richard was named MVP of the 2025 Bell AUS Men’s Hockey Championship this past week as the REDS captured their seventh consecutive conference title with a 2-0 series sweep of the Moncton Aigles Bleus.

In Sunday’s 5-3 win over Moncton, Richard made 17 saves on 20 shots, keeping his team in a game in which the REDS built a 3-0 lead and then hung on for the win.

On Tuesday, in the best-of-three series clincher in Moncton, he registered 24 saves on 26 shots as the REDS scored a 3-2 win.

Richard had a league-leading goals against average of 1.80 and did not lose a game through the AUS postseason.
