(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s swimming team is naming Nolan Pejic, of Nepean, Ontario, to their recruiting class of 2025.
The 17-year-old Pejic is completing his Grade 12 year at Ottawa’s St. Joseph Catholic High School. He’s signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2025-2026 Atlantic University Sport season.
“We like Nolan’s ability to push and adapt his strategy in longer swims,” said Marta Belsh, head coach of the REDS men’s and women’s swimming teams. “His experience at the club and school level will serve him well as he makes the jump to university competition.”
“What appealed to me was the amazing team spirit that I experienced while I was there,” said Pejic. “I felt right at home while spending time with the team.”
A freestyler who specializes in middle-distance events, Pejic also swims the Individual Medley.
He’s a veteran member of the Nepean Kanata Barracudas and the varsity team at St. Joe’s.
“Nolan showed us he’s got lots of potential and is willing to be coached,” said Coach Belsh. “We’re looking forward to adding him to our group.”
“As an athlete, I feel I can bring a hard-working attitude to the team to help achieve my goals,” said Pejic. “As a teammate, I feel I can bring a supportive personality that helps lift others up and helps them achieve their goals.”
Pejic says his short-term goal is to improve his technique. Long-term, he aspires to go to the national team trials ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
Pejic will study Business Administration while attending UNB.
