Back to School Edition: Volume 158, Edition 1
Hello UNB Students,
My name is Joel Rumson. I am the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the Brunswickan for the 2024-2025 academic year.
I started with the Brunswickan in 2021 as a part-time reporter. I remember we were doing orientation; I got so lost that I actually did an orientation with a chemistry group instead of The Brunswickan. I don’t even like chemistry.
“Where are you Joel?”, the EiC said.
I replied, “I am here with you all!”
Well, no, I was not with them all. I was with the Chemistry Club.
I went on for two years after that as features editor. Now, I am EiC.
My time so far has been a one-in-a-lifetime experience — I even built my own contract…
There are highs and lows, but no matter what, I truly could not ask for a better job.
My goals for this year, are simple:
- Provide you, students, with a timely, important, and readable set of journals.
- Collaboratively provide students with opportunities to apply their learned skills in order to better their professional portfolio in a work-place setting.
- Collaborate with students. Period.
If the Brunswickan can provide timely magazines, you read them, and feel it was not a waste of your time — that is a success.
After all, you as a student are our stakeholder — matter of fact, you’re the only stakeholder.
We are not a Canadian broadcaster, we are the damn oldest known student publication in Canada!
Thus, simply put, your opinion as a student is our only priority.
I cannot wait to give you a spectacular set of 5 UNBF-relevant journals for the upcoming school year, releasing on the first Wednesday of every month.
That is, in the case that everything goes perfect. But hey, I am Joel Rumson, so, of course it will.
