Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Photo and Media Manager to join our team. In this role you will collaborate with the Creative Director to produce photos for both online and print as agreed upon by the Editorial staff;  see quota requirements in (Annex 1). 

As The Brunswickan’s Photo and Media Manager ensures our readers enjoy high-quality, engaging imagery aligned with the content (article, poem, release, review) assigned. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong storytelling abilities, and the discipline to meet multiple deadlines. 

By meeting production targets while collaborating with the Creative Director, you will help grow the publication’s photographic reputation while ensuring that the visual storytelling remains both impactful and timely. Access provided to our photography equipment—cameras, lenses, and even a darkroom—to support your work.

Critical Objective: 

To consistently produce visually compelling and high-quality photographic content while maintaining facebook, instagram, and other socials. Done such that your work enhances the storytelling and brand identity of the Brunswickan, and overall captures the essence of each story or event covered. 

Proven experience in capturing a variety of subjects (events, portraits, editorial photography) with a keen eye for storytelling.

Proficiency in photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva) to refine images in accordance with technical and stylistic standards.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and clear feedback delivery.

Requirements:

Access to personal transportation is an asset, though not required.

Preference will be given to students at UNB Fredericton. Applicants must be currently enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution, such as New Brunswick Community Craft College (NBCCD) or St. Thomas University (STU).

Previous experience in photography and media, or demonstrate comparable experience to the satisfaction of the Members of the Hiring Committee;

Ability to lead a team of volunteers;

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to promote the effective and efficient communication between the members and the Editorial Board;

Interpersonal skills, including tact and judgement, to work with the members, the Board of Directors and the clients and the customers of the paper;

Negotiation skill and conflict resolution skills are required to work with the team of volunteers and the Editorial Board;

Knowledge of computer software systems for editing, posting, and storing content;

Demonstrated ability to think creatively, adapt to new trends, and continuously evolve in photography and media techniques.
